AFTER SCHOOL-CALUMET CITY

In partnership with Calumet City we are excited to bring our Gold-Star Award Winning Program to Calumet City.  We look to build a unique experience in the South Suburbs with funds provided by the Calumet City.   We were ecstatic to be approached by Mayor Thaddeus Jones Sr. and quickly arranged listening sessions with Districts 149, 155, 156, 157, 205 and 215.   Our goal is to customize a unique experience in order to provides a safe and consistent environment for youth to engage in culturally relevant conversations while exploring their own identity and history and developing their social-emotional capacities. The CHAMPS SEL Curriculum encourages participants to strengthen their core social-emotional competencies (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making), and to catalyze the growth and development of students’ identity through our 3E’s Education, Empowerment, and Exposure.

CHAMPS to Calumet City!

CHAMPS is excited to attend partnership with Calumet City.  We already work with several school throughout the U.S. to develop extra-curricular programming options for students. We had listening sessions with Superintendents of Calumet City schools to discuss options to bring customized programming to each school.

Extra-curricular and in-school programming integrates the CHAMPS SEL Curriculum and is built around the 3E’s of EDUCATION, EMPOWERMENT and EXPOSURE. CHAMPS creates a safe environment for young men to develop positive Racial Identity, strengthen their social emotional capacities, grow as leaders and gain exposure to a range of people, experiences and opportunities.
